Come and visit the city of Defiance and surrounding communities located in northwest Ohio. Founded in 1794, our community was named after Fort Defiance, said to have been named by General "Mad Anthony" Wayne, who declared of the fort, "I defy the English, the Indians, all the devils in hell to take it." Today, our city built at the confluence of the Auglaize and Maumee rivers continues to thrive, with the same vibrant spirit.
Defiance is prosperous because of the character of the people who call it home. We fly the the flag. We open doors. We cheer at high school sports events. We attend church on Sundays. We also work here. Our families, friends, and neighbors work in farm fields, industry, offices, retail stores, restaurants, and at home. Defiance is open for business. With U.S. Route 24 being expanded, it will become a regional transportation hub.
